Undeniably, both cable TV and satellite TV are a cut above the regular television (TV) viewing experience, especially in terms of programming selections and other add-on features. Although each has its own merits, our focus will be on the viewing experience with satellite TV, with Direct TV as the prototypical provider model.

In simplistic terms, transmission of TV shows from the program source to households via the magic of earth-roving satellites and corresponding satellite TV dish receivers is the process by which satellite TV happens.
