Satellite TV: The DirectTV Experience |
Undeniably, both cable TV and satellite TV are a cut above the regular television (TV) viewing experience, especially in terms of programming selections and other add-on features. Although each has its own merits, our focus will be on the viewing experience with satellite TV, with Direct TV as the prototypical provider model.
In simplistic terms, transmission of TV shows from the program source to households via the magic of earth-roving satellites and corresponding satellite TV dish receivers is the process by which satellite TV happens. Economics of scale have contributed to affording reasonable prices and relative bargains, when one considers the breadth and depth of technology involved and the range of choices given to the TV viewers (eg, Discount Directv). No technology is without its limitations, and for satellite TV there is the potential for less than perfect reception especially when there is interruption between the signal from the satellite and the receiver, as in severe weather (eg, rain- or snowstroms). Nonetheless, overall, satellite TV makes for the complete TV experience, especially with exciting movies and shows (eg. Directv specials) that let viewers be entertained, informed, and grow in knowledge, at the flick of the remote controller and in the comfort of home.
