Advances in digital technology have taken place not just in the computer field but have also encompassed and benefitted the area of healthcare, including medical alarm or medical alert systems and devices. As we near or reache the so-called golden years, the drive to maintain the same lifestyle as we had been used to becomes a major concern. Whether related or not to retirement, issues such as whether to live independently or with loved ones come to the fore. In cases where parents do decide to "go it alone", their loved ones will feel better if there is a way for them to be informed, especially of any health concern or problem such as a fall (which becomes increasingly more common with advancing age). In this scenario, a medical alarm (or medical alert) device may be helpful and appreciated. More so if the medical alarm device is "non-intrusive" to one's privacy and yet allows for real-time monitoring of a loved one's health condition or status even from a remote location. Of course, the parameters of such monitoring will depend on the features of the particular model of the device. |
