Mr. Lifedefiner, who is both over 50 and currently out of the active regularly employed workforce, wants to share his first-hand experience, trying his best to emphasize the positive and find the silver lining in this very challenging situation. In Unemployment Lessons #1, Mr. Lifedefiner tackles the paradox of time in the context of having a job and being out of work. Time is a finite unit but which one can have so much or so little of depending on the circumstances. For example, when I had work, I had complained about not having the time to do things that I had wanted to pursue. And yet when the time came for me to be unemployed, even with more time in my hands, there are times when the drive is missing. The urge or temptation not to do anything can at times be overwhelming. Which brings us to back to the basic point that time is precious regardless of the situation. Making the most out of our time is the best approach, for if not handled properly, time can be wasted. Much easier said than done but there is no denying it, time is gold indeed and something that is to be treasured. |
