Beauty in Aging Print E-mail

By Jocelyn Aps.

What is beautiful with aging? Hmm, there is a lot. In fact, aside from wisdom gained and a
platinum hair, what comes along is a finer taste for everything.  Just imagine the case of cravings for teeny weeny bling-blings to real diamonds craved and fully enjoyed as we age. Teens to young adults will usually aim for fun but may not for fine things except for some signature clothes and bags.

In general, it is when we age when we think of properties. It is in this stage where our minds crave for investment more than anything else. And it is when life allows us to buy costlier things that we are not so concerned if our bags match our pair of shoes. Simply put, the most beautiful part of aging is the generosity of the heavens to bless us financially amid the evidence of simplicity. We remember our youth.  And oh how fun it is to just go with the flow and end up from hopping from dorm to dorm! We even knocked at some doors checking for available rooms for rent until such time that we found the same scenarios as routinary and in fact, sickening. Credit it to fun yet a bit ugly experience, it prompted us to claim one abode as our own. And claiming one, as we expect, will cost a fortune and chances are plastics won’t help.

This is the beauty of aging. Most of the time, you get something more than you can afford and wake up what you couldn’t afford is all yours.  And looking back, we traced our past and found out each scenario in our life brought forth beautiful life to be enjoyed in years to come. Just take a look at the home interior of a young woman. Less is the chance that you find a high grade original oil paintings to make your visit a beautiful experience. Yet, you can tell judging from how she aesthetically arranges everything in place that this is a typical woman of art and knows what is pleasing to the eye. But for older ones, there is a big difference between what is just pleasing and what is truly fine. Very seldom do properties, assets, shares, fine jewelry and wall paintings attract the younger working crowd. You see them travelling, eating out, shopping, and catching the latest flicks in cinemas.  Yet no one among them wants your stories that for them are for the elderly.

What is the beauty of aging? By this time, you realize how fun it was to live in bars and disco places with a few bucks left in the pocket. And how better to stay at home by now while keeping your funds intact for a more productive venture!

Live to the Max

Sometimes, big wins and big prizes in sports tournaments may have jaded our perspectives on winning and even our appreciation for “small” but really meaningful or significant things or moments - or simple joys. There are numerous examples of the “underappreciated” or “under-recognized” genre.  Just think deep within yourself and you will come up with a list.
