Appreciating Simple Joys Print E-mail

Sometimes, big wins and big prizes in sports tournaments may have jaded our perspectives on winning and even our appreciation for “small” but really meaningful or significant things or moments - or simple joys. There are numerous examples of the “underappreciated” or “under-recognized” genre.  Just think deep within yourself and you will come up with a list.

For example, our Mom has just returned to New Jersey from a vacation in Missouri and we cherish all the times that we have with her, realizing fully that these precious, golden hours are not meant to last forever.

This reminds me of the exploits of horseracing greats such as Cigar, Ghostzapper, and Invasor.  Of course, we are familiar with the equine kind of animal. But you see, while growing up, I was also fascinated by ads in comic books about SEAHORSES. So I always wondered how cool it is to see them live! Recently, we went on a family vacation to Philadelphia and part of our tour was a trip to the Camden Aquarium where, among other water creatures, seahorses can be seen.

My own list of simple joys will go on and on… but I am certain you have your own too! Relish them well, for the good life!
