We all know about how successful the dot coms have been (inspite of the meltdown of 2000). But there are indications that it may now be the time of the dot TV domain names and websites which are associated with rich media and may connote or represent internet television. Among the early big name proponents include: mercedes-benz.tv, audi.tv, tnt.tv, and also agingbasics.tv. Domain names, which are a key part if one were to build a website , can be registered by potential website owners and developers. Dot tv sites may provide a way of enhancing the level of the internet-related experience by having features that allow the users to view videos of various things of interest to them.
As with any new kid on the block, there may be resistance, but then, who can argue with technology especially when there are benefits that generally outweight any negatives? Perhaps the only other hurdle then is facilitating or finding a most effective way of increasing the percentage of the world's population to the wonders of broadband internet access. Cost and infrastructure may be current limitations but with time these could be hopefully addressed. But definitely, the .tv's are coming and are here to stay! |
